Vineyard

Since 2018, we were preparing our land for planting vineyards in organic and biodynamic agriculture directly in Devičie. We believe that we can grow a healthy vineyard on healthy soil. We do everything in harmony with nature so that the entire ecosystem functions as a whole.

Soil analyses have shown us that this volcanic soil (from the SITNO volcano) has excellent potential for growing good and quality grapes. The soil is full of stones and the vines will “suffer” here, which is good for it. The roots will go deeper where they will draw minerality and identity. The location (“terroir”) of the vineyard is also very important for its health. Our vineyards are planted on a slope on volcanic soil where it is always windy. As a result, the vineyard is less susceptible to disease. Our vines are narrow and we have around 5,500 vines per hectare. The vines have less yield but higher grape quality.

We carefully selected the varieties we planted to suit the location and climatic conditions.

In 2020, we planted the first hectare of the Slovak white variety DEVÍN (a cross between Traminer red and Veltliner red and white). We continued in 2024 and planted 3 hectares of vineyards.

We selected the following varieties: FURMINT, HRON, AUXERROIS, GAMAY, PINOT NOIR.
